About the Role
This opportunity is ideal for young individuals passionate about environmental work and heritage preservation. You’ll play a key role in maintaining Robben Island’s facilities and landscapes—including the historic airstrip—ensuring they remain safe, accessible, and well-kept.
Key Responsibilities:
- Brush-cutting and clearing overgrowth
- Removing weeds and spraying herbicides safely
- Collecting and sorting plant debris
- Following health and safety regulations
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Willingness to live and work on Robben Island for the full contract duration
- Physically fit and prepared to work outdoors
- Must be a team player and flexible with work hours
Added Advantage:
- Experience with weed-eaters and garden equipment
- Comfortable working in outdoor, challenging environments
- Ability to work weekends/overtime when required
