Introduction
The National Gambling Board (NGB) is a public entity established under the National Gambling Act, 2004 (Act No. 7 of 2004). It operates as a Schedule 3A public entity under the Public Finance Management Act, ensuring compliance, coordination, and oversight of national and provincial gambling regulation in South Africa.
The NGB plays a critical role in the promotion of uniform norms and standards across the country’s gambling landscape. These internship positions are available in the following fields: Finance (Supply Chain Management) and Legal Services (LLB/Law).
Job Description
The NGB Internship Programme 2025 is a 12-month, non-renewable contract aimed at unemployed graduates who are passionate about building careers in finance or legal compliance within public institutions.
Interns will gain hands-on experience under professional guidance, contributing to the core administrative, legal, and financial functions of the NGB while developing key competencies for the public sector.
The programme is structured to align with national development goals, youth employment strategies, and the transformation agenda by providing quality work exposure to previously disadvantaged individuals and graduates living with disabilities.

- Minimum Requirement: National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics

- Minimum Requirement: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent Law Degree

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an ambitious, detail-oriented graduate who has completed their academic studies and is ready to transition into a professional role within a regulatory environment.
Minimum requirements for applicants include:
- South African citizenship
- Completed qualification in relevant field (Finance or Law)
- Must be currently unemployed
- Willingness to commit to a full-time 12-month internship
- Preference will be given to applicants from previously disadvantaged groups or living with disabilities
- No prior participation in any other internship programme offered by a public entity
Role Responsibility
Interns will work closely with the Operations, Legal, or Finance teams depending on their field of study. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with supply chain management and procurement documentation
- Supporting the preparation of compliance reports and financial audits
- Helping draft, review, or organize legal documentation
- Participating in departmental meetings and briefings
- Contributing to research, policy review, and legal interpretations
- Monitoring compliance to internal controls and governance standards
- Capturing and updating data into government systems
- Filing and managing records for audits or tribunal processes
Interns will also be expected to demonstrate professional conduct and maintain confidentiality across all aspects of their role.
