Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- ABET qualification
- PSIRA Grades E, D, and C
- Knowledge of prescribed security procedures such as:
- Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
- National Intelligence Security Act (NISA)
- Protection of Information Act
- Understanding of the authority and responsibilities of security officers under these regulations
- Willingness to undergo security clearance processes
- Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
This position does not require previous work experience, but candidates should demonstrate basic knowledge of security procedures and the ability to work responsibly in a hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining safety and controlling access within hospital premises. Duties include the following:
Access Control
- Screen all people entering and leaving the building using X-ray machines and metal detectors
- Confirm whether visitors have appointments
- Contact hospital staff to verify appointments
- Direct visitors to the appropriate service delivery points
- Complete and maintain the admission control register
- Issue visitor access cards and documentation
- Escort visitors or employees when necessary
- Lock and unlock building entrances
Security Monitoring
- Identify suspicious behaviour and investigate incidents
- Monitor activities through CCTV cameras in the security control room
- Verify the validity of employee access cards
- Issue access cards where required
Parking and Asset Protection
- Manage parking areas
- Safeguard state and private vehicles on hospital premises
Key Management and Building Patrols
- Maintain key control systems
- Conduct routine patrols of buildings and surrounding areas
- Check that doors are properly locked or unlocked
- Ensure lights are switched on or off where necessary
- Identify suspicious objects or unattended packages
Safety Checks
- Check for water leaks and open taps
- Identify potential fire hazards, such as exposed electrical connections or chemical risks
- Ensure compliance with safety standards across hospital premises
Emergency Response
- Respond to emergency situations such as:
- Bomb threats
- Riots or disturbances
- Security breaches
- Alert emergency services and hospital management where necessary
- Protect vacant land and property from illegal occupation
