Job Description
The ABB Internship Programme provides a hybrid working environment where selected interns gain industry-relevant experience while receiving structured training and mentorship. Interns will be involved in key operational tasks that contribute directly to ABB’s Process Automation Business Area and its supporting functions.

Interns are expected to support the company by:

  • Learning and developing essential job-related skills through structured vocational training
  • Working alongside experienced professionals in their respective departments
  • Participating in company training sessions and performance feedback reviews
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts and contributing to internal project initiatives
  • Engaging with real-time business challenges in operational, technical, and corporate environments

Ideal Candidate
ABB seeks graduates who have completed a BCom or BA degree in the following disciplines:

  • Finance / Accounting
  • Human Resource Management
  • Supply Chain or Logistics
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
  • Marketing and Communications

Additional Requirements:

  • Recent graduate (no more than 2 years post-graduation)
  • South African citizenship is mandatory
  • Academic average of 65% or higher
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A growth mindset with a passion for learning
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and critical thinking
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and teamwork ability

Role Responsibility
Interns will be placed across a variety of functions depending on their academic background and business needs. Responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring key operational performance indicators and tracking order status
  • Supporting internal project development within your assigned function
  • Enhancing service delivery by identifying process inefficiencies and recommending improvements
  • Participating in regular meetings and knowledge-sharing platforms
  • Delivering administrative and logistical support to line managers and project leaders

  • Corporate Marketing and Communication
    • Event planning, internal and external communications, branding initiatives
  • Supply Chain Management / Logistics
    • Inventory handling, supplier liaison, trade and transport documentation
  • Human Resource Management
    • Employee lifecycle administration, training coordination, payroll support
  • Finance & Accounting
    • Business controlling, invoicing, accounts payable processing
  • Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
    • Incident reporting, safety audits, and health campaigns
  • Information Technology (IT)
    • Support in system administration, end-user helpdesk, data analytics
