Job Description
The HR Intern will be responsible for supporting HR operations across multiple business units. The internship aims to develop essential HR skills, including recruitment, administration, compliance, and payroll support. The selected interns will report to the HR Manager and work closely with senior HR professionals in ensuring smooth operations within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment, Selection, and Employment Contracting
- Schedule interviews with short-listed applicants and hiring managers
- Conduct applicant vetting in line with company policies
- Coordinate and schedule pre-employment medicals
- Collect and organize applicant documentation and information
- Assist in preparing employment contracts for new hires
HR Administration & Documentation
- Scan and maintain employee documentation for online digital filing
- Assist in the collation and verification of documents for payroll processing
- Capture employee information into the payroll system and HR databases
- Update employee records and generate HR reports as required
- Maintain compliance with HR policies, labor laws, and company regulations
Training & Development Coordination
- Organize training sessions, book venues, and arrange equipment
- Obtain training authorization from line managers and designated approvers
- Maintain training documentation and records of employee training sessions
- Assist in coordinating performance management and development plans
Disciplinary Procedures & CCMA Preparation
- Assist in gathering necessary documentation for disciplinary hearings
- Support HR Managers in CCMA case preparation and dispute resolution
- Maintain confidential records of employee grievances, warnings, and disciplinary actions
Ideal Candidate
To qualify for this HR Internship, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications and experience requirements:
Qualifications:
- Minimum: National Diploma (3 years) in Human Resources Management
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans (additional languages will be advantageous)
Additional Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive and forward-thinking mindset
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Strong ability to multi-task and work independently or within a team
