Job Description
The Cashier role focuses on efficient till operations, customer service, and ensuring the security and accuracy of transactions. As a key member of the sales floor team, you will contribute directly to customer satisfaction and the smooth functioning of the store’s sales process.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Welcome and greet customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner
- Transaction Processing: Accurately ring up purchases, accept various payment methods (cash, card, vouchers), and issue precise receipts
- Till Balancing: Ensure the till is balanced at the beginning and end of shifts, accounting for all transactions and receipts
- Security of Cash and Transactions: Safeguard the till contents and adhere to company policies regarding cash handling
- Public Relations: Represent the BUCO brand by maintaining a high standard of professionalism and promoting company values and culture
- Assist Customers: Provide assistance by answering questions and resolving issues related to purchases and payments
- Support Sales Team: Work collaboratively with other sales team members to ensure a seamless shopping experience for customers

Minimum Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 (Matric Certificate)
- Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in English (verbal and written communication)
- Retail Hours: Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Customer Service Skills: Friendly, helpful, and polite demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
- Work Experience:
- 2 – 3 years of cashier experience is an advantage
- Prior experience in FMCG retail or building materials will be beneficial
- Technical Skills:
- Basic computer literacy
- Knowledge of POS (Point-of-Sale) systems is advantageous
- Product Knowledge: Familiarity with building material products will be considered an advantage
