The Examination Assistant and Quality Assurer positions involve handling, processing, and verifying examination scripts to maintain security, accuracy, and fairness in marking. Candidates will be based at district offices, head offices, or marking centres across Gauteng. Qualification: Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate, or National Senior Certificate Vocational
Experience: Prior experience in examination administration is advantageous but not compulsory
Job Position: Quality Assurer (QA)
Job Type: Temporary contract
Qualification: Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate, or National Senior Certificate Vocational with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy passed at Grade 12
Experience: Previous work in marking centres or quality-control processes is an advantage
General Requirements for Both Roles
- Must be a registered student at a tertiary institution, an unemployed person with at least one tertiary qualification, or an unemployed graduate
- Strong numerical skills
- Second-year tertiary studies or higher is advantageous
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure
- No current employment elsewhere
- Must not be writing the National Senior Certificate/Senior Certificate/AET Examinations in 2025
- Must not have taken the Voluntary Severance Package (VSP)
Key Performance Areas
Examination Assistant
- Receive, check, control, and scan scripts daily
- Pack scripts for marking and ensure correct numbers and marksheets
- Report and resolve discrepancies per subject, paper, or session
- Prepare marking centre files and dispatch scripts to venues
- Archive and index scripts for future reference
Quality Assurer
- Receive, control, and distribute scripts to marking teams
- Verify correct number of scripts and marksheets during marking
- Check that all questions are marked, totals are correct, and marks are accurately recorded
- Work with marking teams to resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile and arrange scripts per subject for archiving
