Job Description
The City of Ekurhuleni is looking for individuals who are efficient, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high administrative standards in support of the municipality’s objectives. The successful candidates will perform various financial and clerical tasks to ensure accurate revenue management and compliance with all municipal regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute administrative tasks in line with departmental guidelines and operational requirements.
- Provide clerical and financial administrative support to ensure service efficiency and compliance.
- Verify all documents before and after processing to ensure accuracy and adherence to legislative requirements.
- Ensure all revenue collected is properly accounted for and reported in accordance with municipal financial protocols.
- Manage the recording and safe-keeping of face value documents, cash floats, and other financial resources.
- Prevent financial resource wastage by adhering to prescribed standards, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Escalate identified risks related to administrative or financial processes to relevant authorities for resolution.
- Provide professional and friendly customer service when handling public inquiries related to payments or documentation.
- Perform data capturing and maintain accurate electronic and paper-based filing systems.
- Assist in generating reports for audits and other compliance-related activities.
- Ensure timely submission of reconciliations, registers, and reports as required by management.

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.
- 2 years of relevant work experience in an administrative or financial environment, preferably in the public sector.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail for handling financial records and documentation.
- Understanding of local government operations and compliance requirements will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of financial controls and revenue management processes.
- Proof of NQF level applicable to the qualifications obtained may be required.
Role Responsibility
- Administer clerical and financial tasks efficiently and according to standard operating procedures.
