Job Description
As a Pharmacist Assistant, your primary responsibility is to support the pharmacist in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services. This includes ensuring efficient dispensary operations, accurate medication dispensing, and outstanding customer care, while strictly adhering to the standards of the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and internal SOPs.
Job Objectives
- Delivering high standards of customer service and professional care
- Accurate dispensing, compounding, and labeling of medicines
- Efficient stock control and management including repacking
- Maintaining dispensary administration and documentation
- Offering general health advice and guidance to customers
- Ensuring merchandising and housekeeping standards are met
- Performing ad hoc duties in line with operational needs
Ideal Candidate
This role is suitable for pharmacy professionals who are passionate about health and wellness and have a strong commitment to ethical practice, compliance, and service excellence.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate with Mathematics (Essential)
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for one of the following:
- Qualified Pharmacist Assistant
- Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant
- Learner Basic Pharmacist Assistant
Skills, Abilities and Job-Related Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of health and OTC products
- Understanding of SAPC regulations and pharmacy laws
- Proficient in basic calculations and measurements for dispensing
- Working knowledge of IT systems and MS Office
- Experience using business operating systems (advantageous)
- Strong customer service orientation
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent teamwork and integrity
