Job Description
The Griller is responsible for preparing high-quality grilled menu items while maintaining food safety, speed of service, and hygiene standards in line with Pedros’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position is a critical part of delivering a consistent and memorable customer experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all cooking and preparation areas are kept clean and hygienic
- Grill and prepare all food items (especially chicken) according to Pedros’ recipes and SOPs
- Uphold food safety practices and quality control measures
- Maintain speed of service while delivering consistent portioning and presentation
- Provide excellent customer service and assist in general kitchen operations when required
- Follow shift checklists and comply with company health and safety standards
Requirements
Education:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a restaurant or fast-food environment
- Prior experience as a griller or kitchen assistant is preferred
Skills & Attributes:
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene protocols
- Good verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, team-based environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Role Responsibility
As a griller, you’ll be responsible for the core product preparation — ensuring that every meal served is fresh, hot, and up to brand standard. You’ll need to follow procedures strictly, work quickly and efficiently, and support the kitchen and front-of-house teams in maintaining Pedros’ customer service excellence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing chicken and other grilled items as per daily orders
- Monitoring temperatures and cooking times for optimal food quality
- Cleaning workstations, grills, and utensils regularly
- Restocking prep stations and ensuring readiness for peak hours
- Complying with health regulations and internal SOPs
- Reporting any stock or equipment issues to the shift supervisor
