This exciting 12-month work experience programme is part of the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative and is designed to provide real-world sales exposure across General Trade (GT) and the Food Service Industry (FSI).
The selected candidates will be based out of Clover’s Clayville branch in Gauteng, with placements spanning multiple towns and cities nationally. Job Description
As an Assistant Sales Representative, you will gain hands-on experience in sales operations, customer recruitment, and account management across Clover’s customer base in emerging markets. This role contributes directly to expanding Clover’s footprint by sourcing and onboarding new customers while also supporting existing sales teams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Customer Onboarding:
- Source new business and recruit customers within GT and FSI channels
- Ensure all recruitment appointments are fulfilled
- Drive the monthly onboarding of a minimum of 125 FSI customers and 200 GT customers
- Complete account application processes and assist until handover
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Respond to customer queries efficiently
- Maintain excellent customer service standards
- Coordinate handover to Sales Representatives and Area Managers
- Document and report reasons for failed customer recruitment
- Sales Support and Execution:
- Assist in sales administration, promotions, and stock management
- Monitor sales volumes and maintain pricing compliance
- Ensure product visibility and fridge display standards
- Implement negotiated pricing structures
Ideal Candidate:
Clover is looking for passionate young individuals who are self-driven, resilient, and eager to develop their career in the FMCG sales environment. The ideal learner should be well-spoken, have a strong desire to solve customer problems, and be energetic and professional in all interactions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / National Certificate (NQF Level 4)
- Code 08 Driver’s License (essential for field-based responsibilities)
- Fluent in Business English
- Must be currently unemployed and meet the YES programme criteria

Role Responsibility:

- Assisting the sales force with market penetration
- Learning to negotiate, implement pricing, and monitor product compliance
- Building strong client relationships and trust through effective service delivery
