Job Description
The 12-month Econofoods Retail Learnership Programme aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by offering practical retail experience combined with structured learning.

Participants will be placed in Econofoods stores across Gauteng, Free State, and the Eastern Cape, where they will learn and develop essential retail and customer service skills. This programme is designed to support youth who are eager to learn, grow, and make their mark in the retail world.

Successful applicants will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and a monthly stipend of R4000.00. The programme starts on 01 August 2025 and concludes after 12 months of structured, competency-based learning.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal applicant is someone who:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • Not currently enrolled in any other studies
  • Able to commit full-time to the programme
  • Willing to work retail shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Resides in Gauteng, Free State, or Eastern Cape
  • Available to begin on 01 August 2025

Role Responsibility
As part of the retail team, learnership candidates will be responsible for:

  • Supporting daily retail operations
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Learning how to manage product displays, inventory, and sales
  • Assisting with promotions and in-store merchandising
  • Understanding basic business procedures and ethics
  • Ensuring the store environment remains clean, safe, and customer-friendly
