Job Description
The IDC Graduate Internship Programme is a full-time structured initiative that equips young graduates with the tools, knowledge, and workplace exposure needed to thrive in their respective fields. Interns are assigned to various IDC business units, where they work on real projects, contribute to operational objectives, and learn from highly experienced professionals.

Ideal Candidate

Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Have completed a recognised Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate qualification
  • Be unemployed and not enrolled in another internship or full-time academic programme
  • Be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Be willing to commit to a full 24-month internship
  • Have a keen interest in contributing to developmental finance, industry, or public service

Role Responsibility
Interns will be placed in departments aligned with their academic qualifications. Under the guidance of their assigned mentors or managers, they will undertake work that contributes meaningfully to IDC projects and internal operations.

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting research and data analysis
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of project plans
  • Participating in internal audits, financial assessments, or investment analysis
  • Supporting communication and brand projects (journalism, social media, etc.)
  • Assisting HR teams with recruitment, training, or organisational development tasks
  • Providing administrative and technical support to engineering and property divisions
  • Engaging in team meetings, progress reviews, and strategy sessions
