Job Description:
The primary objective of the Pharmacy Sales Assistant is to ensure a professional and welcoming customer experience at all times, while supporting retail operations in the store. The role includes conducting sales transactions, restocking products, and assisting customers with product choices and queries.
As a frontline representative of the pharmacy, the assistant will work closely with customers to help them find suitable over-the-counter products, assist with product information, and maintain a visually appealing store environment.

Role Responsibility:
- Handle customer payments and perform POS transactions accurately
- Balance daily receipts and ensure compliance with company procedures
- Assist customers in finding products that best suit their needs
- Maintain updated knowledge of all current products, promotions, and specials
- Keep the sales floor well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing
- Conduct regular price audits to identify and correct discrepancies
- Support visual merchandising standards and maintain clean shelves and displays
- Answer customer queries promptly and escalate where appropriate
- Follow standard operating procedures for stock control, returns, and refunds
- Contribute to a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment through consistent housekeeping
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team to deliver efficient and friendly service
Skills and Attributes:
- Solid understanding of retail customer service principles
- Knowledge of stock receiving and merchandising processes
- Computer literacy and proficiency in POS systems
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and organizational ability
- Knowledge of various payment methods including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons
- Bilingual with fluency in English and Afrikaans preferred
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 months experience at a till point / POS system in a retail environment
- Proven sales experience working both on the shop floor and behind the till
