As part of this exciting journey, the company is looking to fill four (4) entry-level General Miner positions at its Mototolo Complex – Borwa Shaft in Burgersfort.

Job Description:
The General Miner plays a critical operational role within the underground mining team. The position carries legal accountability for construction blasting in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and involves responsibilities across ore handling, materials movement, and structural construction within the mining domain.
This position will also liaise closely with shift supervisors, team members, and safety officers to ensure operations comply with legal and procedural standards.
Ideal Candidate:
Applicants who meet the following criteria will be ideally suited for this role:
- Hold a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Possess a National Certificate NQF Level 3 in Rock Breaking or a Valid Underground Blasting Certificate for hard rock environments
- Have 1–3 years’ experience in a similar mining role (Miner or Crew Captain)
- Have trackless mining experience (advantageous but not required)
- Possess a valid Medical Fitness Certificate for underground work
- Are legally competent and safety-focused
- Have the physical resilience and awareness required for underground work
Role Responsibility:
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure all working areas comply with safety standards
- Enforce and maintain adherence to mining procedures and safety legislation
- Execute and manage blasting activities, ensuring all explosive use is compliant with standard protocols
- Monitor work progress, maintain process accuracy, and ensure team members understand updated operational procedures
- Provide instruction and support to team members using job instructions and task-specific checklists
- Compile accurate shift reports, material orders, and work logs for handovers and management records
- Engage in regular communication with shift supervisors and foremen to align on performance goals and safety requirements
- Assist with material and equipment movement and underground infrastructure construction where required
Skills and Attributes:
- Sound knowledge of underground mining operations and blasting procedures
- Familiarity with safety systems, equipment handling, and hazard reporting
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliability and consistency in shift work and reporting
- Resilience and adaptability under challenging underground conditions
- Competent in using reporting tools and task tracking methods
- Ability to interpret technical job instructions and apply them practically
