Job Description:
The General Worker will be responsible for a variety of warehouse duties to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This includes stock taking, binning, picking, packing, checking, moving stock, and ensuring the warehouse remains neat and organized at all times. You will work closely with your supervisor and other team members to meet operational targets, maintain customer satisfaction, and uphold company standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Binning
- Allocate bin location numbers for all new products in the correct warehouse areas
- Replenish inventory from bulk to pick locations according to standard operating procedures
- Update bin locations and ensure accurate stock allocation records
- Receive and check all incoming goods according to company standards
- Assist in stock replenishment functions
- Picking
- Pick customer and branch orders promptly to meet order cut-off times
- Pick from bulk locations only when necessary to avoid product damage
- Assist with bulk orders to maintain product integrity
- Participate in regular stock takes
- Perform double checks to ensure order accuracy and prevent losses
- Housekeeping
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness on a daily basis
- Follow all relevant safety and operational procedures
- Scanner Control
- Issue scanners to operators daily and record usage
- Book scanners out and back in using the electronic app
- Inspect scanners for damage and report issues to the supervisor
- Complete and maintain the daily scanner issue spreadsheet
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a team. You should be physically fit, capable of handling heavy items, and committed to maintaining high operational standards.
Role Responsibility:
- Perform accurate binning, picking, and packing of stock
- Maintain stock control processes to minimize losses
- Keep accurate and up-to-date inventory records
- Ensure warehouse cleanliness and operational safety
- Contribute to meeting operational targets consistently
- Handle scanners responsibly and ensure they are in working condition
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and able to lift items weighing 1kg to 30kg
- Honest and reliable with a clear criminal record
- Willingness to work overtime when required
- Positive attitude and commitment to going the extra mile
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 or equivalent literacy and numeracy level
- At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment (desirable)
- Knowledge of automotive parts, warehouse systems, and operational procedures
- Ability to operate within a structured and time-sensitive environment
