What is the SAB Apprenticeship Programme?
The SAB Engineering Apprenticeship Programme is a multi-year (3–4 years) training and development initiative for young South Africans interested in engineering trades. The programme combines SETA-aligned technical training, structured mentorship, and workplace exposure in a production environment, preparing participants for sustainable engineering careers.

Candidate Role During the Programme
As an apprentice, you will:
- Complete a structured 3–4 year apprenticeship training programme
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy working environment
- Comply with safety, health, and environmental standards
- Gain hands-on skills in plant maintenance, repairs, and optimization
- Manage plant equipment, spares, and documentation
- Continuously improve technical processes and systems

Are You Eligible? (Minimum Requirements)
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- National Technical Certificate (N4) in the relevant trade (N5/N6 is advantageous)
- Higher qualification in an engineering discipline (preferred)
- Demonstrated aptitude for engineering
- South African youth who are currently unemployed
