Who is Gauteng College of Nursing

The Gauteng College of Nursing, under the Gauteng Department of Health, provides accredited nursing education and training. The College prepares students to serve communities through professional nursing care and equips them with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the healthcare sector.

What is the Diploma in Nursing 2026 Programme

This is a structured nursing education programme leading to a Diploma in Nursing. Students will undergo academic training combined with Work Integrated Learning (WIL), where they gain real-world experience in Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics.

Are you Eligible? Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen residing in Gauteng Province
  • Hold one of the following: Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate, National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health), or currently be in Grade 12
  • Meet the following subject requirements:
    • Senior Certificate: English HG D/SG C, Biology HG D/SG C, Mathematics HG D/SG C, and M Score of 17
    • National Senior Certificate: English Level 4, Life Sciences Level 4, Mathematics Level 4 or Maths Literacy Level 5, APS of 27+ (Life Orientation counts 50%)
    • National Vocational Certificate: 50% in fundamental subjects (English FAL, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation) and 60% in vocational subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, The Human Body and Mind, Community Oriented Primary Care)
    • Current Grade 12 learners must meet NSC requirements based on Grade 11 results
