Candidate Role During the Programme
Trainee Provincial Inspectors will be trained and later responsible for:
- Enforcing road traffic and public passenger transport laws
- Conducting speed enforcement, roadblocks, and accident scene management
- Issuing notices, effecting arrests, and attending court proceedings
- Coordinating traffic flow through point duty and traffic control
- Conducting vehicle roadworthiness inspections
- Escorting abnormal vehicles and monitoring overload control points
- Testing learner and driver licence applicants
- Assisting motorists and promoting crime prevention activities
- Participating in training and community outreach programmes
Are you Eligible? Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a Senior Certificate (Matric) or NQF Level 4 equivalent
- Possess a valid Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission)
- Be a South African citizen or Permanent Resident
- Be 35 years or younger on the first day of training
- Have no criminal record (SAPS clearance required)
- Submit a recent medical certificate proving physical fitness
- Be willing to undergo a state medical examination
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Training and Career Progression
- Duration: Two-year fixed training period at the Traffic Training College
- Qualification: Traffic Officer’s Diploma
- Appointment: Permanent placement as a Provincial Inspector (Level 06) with a 12-month probation
- Commitment: Minimum 12 months of service within the RTI after training
- Termination: Failure to complete training will result in contract termination
