Responsibilities

Successful candidates will perform a variety of administrative duties within the hospital.

Administrative Duties

  • Perform general administration duties as instructed by supervisors and the head of department
  • Submit patient files to the Medical Records department regularly
  • Register and secure patient appointments and admissions
  • Perform ward census activities

Patient Data Management

  • Transfer patients on the hospital system
  • Update patient information when required
  • Capture data accurately for billing and administrative purposes
  • Enter ICD-10 codes where applicable

Patient Support Services

  • Attend to enquiries from members of the public and community
  • Update patient classifications and information
  • Ensure accurate capturing of billing information

Reporting and Compliance

  • Capture downtime in line with Circular 11 of 2014
  • Compile departmental statistics when required
  • Ensure compliance with internal control processes
  • Work in line with Auditor General and National Core Standards (IDEAL Hospital Framework)

Teamwork and Professional Conduct

  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • Follow hospital policies and professional standards

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Qualification

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

Knowledge

Candidates should have knowledge of:

  • Basic administration procedures
  • Data capturing processes
  • Reporting procedures
  • Procurement directives and procedures
  • Basic statistics
  • Planning and organisational processes
  • Conducting basic research and gathering information

Skills

Applicants should possess:
