What is the Trainee Investigator Internship?
The Trainee Investigator Internship 2025 is a structured learning and work experience programme hosted by the Office of the Ombudsman, Complaints and Investigations Branch. Over 18 months, interns will gain exposure to legal processes, investigative practices, governance frameworks, and complaint resolution mechanisms. Participants will be trained to support the Ombudsman’s mandate of promoting fairness, justice, and accountability in Johannesburg’s public services.

Candidate role during the programme

Are you Eligible? (Requirements)
- Diploma or Degree in Law (minimum 360 credits)
- Final-year Law students may also apply
- Law school certificate (advantageous)
- Must be a permanent resident of the City of Johannesburg (proof required)
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must not have previously participated in a similar internship in the same field
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, report-writing, and communication skills
- Knowledge of Batho Pele principles and ethics
