Job Description
This learnership programme focuses on building foundational knowledge and workplace exposure in warehouse and distribution operations. Learners will be introduced to the day-to-day logistics functions within a busy distribution centre (DC), while also developing critical thinking, numeric literacy, and workplace communication skills.
The goal is to ensure every learner understands the principles of effective warehousing, stock handling, safety, and distribution while fostering a high-performance mindset that can be applied in various supply chain roles across different sectors.
Learners will engage in both theoretical classroom instruction and practical workplace training at CCBSA’s Midrand or Wadeville sites in Gauteng.

Role Responsibility
Throughout the programme, learners will gain exposure to a wide array of warehouse and distribution responsibilities, including:
- Effective communication (written, verbal, and numeric) in a logistics setting
- Introduction to rational and irrational numbers and how they apply to inventory and stock balancing
- Receiving stock and verifying documentation against physical items
- Maintaining inventory records and understanding stock balances
- Understanding the end-to-end flow of goods within a warehouse environment
- Accurately and safely picking and packing stock for dispatch
- Handling returns and maintaining accurate documentation
- Loading and unloading of delivery vehicles
- Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety legislation and internal safety policies
- Learning and applying emergency procedures in a warehouse setting
- Performing stock take and assisting in inventory audits
- Applying the principles of customer service within the warehouse environment
- Complying with internal housekeeping and 5S standards
- Operating in a team environment to ensure efficiency and minimise errors

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

- Matric certificate (Grade 12) – with Mathematics and Science
- No prior learnership in Wholesale and Retail Distribution
- No previous work experience required – this is an entry-level opportunity
- Logistics or Supply Chain tertiary qualification will be considered an added advantage
- South African citizens only, with certified proof of residence
- Must be currently unemployed and available for the full duration of the programme
- Ability to pass required literacy and numeracy assessments
- Must undergo medical fitness testing and security clearance
Duration of the Learnership
- The learnership runs for a period of 12 months
- Learners must achieve a minimum of 120 credits through unit standards
- The programme includes both classroom instruction and on-site experiential training
- All successful learners will receive a nationally recognised Wholesale and Retail Qualification upon completion
