Job Description
The Mossel Bay Municipality Infrastructure Services Internship Programme is a structured 12-month opportunity—renewable up to a maximum of 3 years depending on performance and municipal needs. Interns will be embedded in the Project Management Unit (PMU) under the Infrastructure Services Directorate, supporting key public infrastructure projects.
Interns will engage in all aspects of municipal infrastructure planning, implementation, and monitoring. They will assist with technical assessments, site inspections, community engagement, and administrative functions—all aligned with municipal standards and development goals.

- Recently qualified in civil engineering or a closely aligned discipline

To qualify, applicants must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Hold a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (minimum NQF Level 6) in Civil Engineering or a relevant field
- Be in possession of a valid Code B driver’s license
- Be fluent in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape: English, Afrikaans, or isiXhosa
- Be a South African citizen, unemployed, and available to work full-time
- Demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Role Responsibility
Interns will be actively involved in:
- Assisting with infrastructure project planning, from inception through implementation
- Supporting site visits and technical inspections under the guidance of engineers
- Participating in project tracking, including progress reporting, budget monitoring, and compliance checks
- Engaging with stakeholders, including local communities, contractors, and municipal officials
- Helping coordinate project documents, technical reports, and compliance paperwork
- Gaining experience in municipal financial systems, budgeting procedures, and public procurement processes
- Contributing to service delivery improvement plans
- Assisting with community needs assessments and the integration of social priorities into project plans
