Shoprite Money Market YES Programme 2026 Opens

Introduction

This initiative, coordinated through West Coast College in partnership with Shoprite, forms part of the national Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme. It is specifically designed to help young people bridge the gap between academic learning and practical workplace experience while earning a monthly stipend and gaining industry-relevant skills.

For many young South Africans, the biggest barrier after completing studies is not qualification, but lack of workplace exposure. This programme directly addresses that gap by placing students in real Shoprite store environments, where they will work as Sales Representatives supporting the Shoprite Money Market Account.

Unlike traditional internships, this is structured employment within a national retail brand, giving participants meaningful exposure to sales, financial services, customer engagement, and retail operations.

Programme Overview

The Shoprite Money Market YES Programme is a 12-month fixed-term employment opportunity aimed at graduates and N6 completers aligned with W&RSETA disciplines such as Office Administration and Marketing Management.

Participants will be placed directly inside Shoprite stores, where they will actively promote and assist customers with the Shoprite Money Market Account.

This programme is designed to prepare young people for careers in retail sales, financial services, banking, insurance, and customer service by combining real workplace experience with performance-based earning potential.

For Shoprite, the programme supports skills development while improving customer education around Money Market services. For learners, it builds confidence, employability, and professional competence.
