Job Description
The primary purpose of the Retail Sales Assistant position is to assist store management with daily operations, provide excellent customer service, and ensure store policies and procedures are always followed. As a brand ambassador, you will engage with customers, drive sales, and contribute to maintaining Adidas’s reputation for world-class service and store presentation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering the highest level of customer service to all store visitors
- Assisting with sales transactions, processing cash, credit card, and other payments accurately
- Supporting the merchandising team by ticketing products and matching paperwork with received inventory
- Assisting with the flow of merchandise from stockroom to sales floor to ensure consistent stock levels
- Participating in visual merchandising displays following management direction and brand guidelines
- Learning and mastering the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate transactions and policy compliance
- Using advanced sales techniques such as upselling, cross-selling, and providing product knowledge to increase sales
- Greeting and assisting customers in selecting products and answering queries professionally
- Occasionally acting as a Greeter at the store entrance, providing a welcoming environment during peak hours
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, organized, and visually appealing store
- Protecting company assets by following all loss prevention protocols
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role is a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for retail, customer service, and the Adidas brand. Prior fashion retail experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
Minimum requirements include:
- Matric Certificate (NQF Level 4 or equivalent)
- 0 to 1 year of retail experience preferred, but not essential
- Computer literacy and ability to learn point-of-sale systems
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays as required
- Positive, friendly, and customer-focused attitude
- Passion for fashion, fitness, sports, or the Adidas brand
Role Responsibility
As a key team member, you will be responsible for ensuring the store runs efficiently while providing customers with a world-class shopping experience. Specific responsibilities include:
- Actively engaging with customers to identify their needs and recommend suitable products
- Providing accurate information on product features, sizing, availability, and current promotions
- Maintaining stock levels and ensuring products are properly displayed and easy to locate
- Monitoring merchandise flow from the backroom to the sales floor
- Supporting the team with daily operational tasks such as opening/closing procedures, cleaning, and stocktaking
- Assisting with stock receipt and reconciliation processes
- Following safety, sanitation, and store compliance guidelines at all times
- Building positive relationships with fellow team members to promote a collaborative work environment
- Proactively resolving customer concerns or escalating issues to store management when necessary
- Contributing to store sales goals and performance targets
