Job Description

The Samancor Chrome 2025 Learnership Programme is managed under the WCM Human Resources Department and targets young South Africans with strong technical aptitude and a desire to build a sustainable career.

The available learnerships are divided into two main fields:

  • Engineering Learnerships
  • Mining Learnership

Selected learners will participate in structured training programs that include both theoretical education and hands-on workplace learning. They will also be expected to comply with safety regulations and learning processes as part of their development.

Role Responsibility

All candidates selected for the learnerships will be required to:

  • Attend and complete all theoretical modules and practical assignments

  • Successfully complete assessments and practical evaluations
  • Maintain discipline and professionalism during the training period

    • Minimum Requirement: Grade 12 with relevant subjects or N2 Engineering with 4 subjects
  2. Diesel Mechanic

  3. Electrician

  4. Fitter

Minimum Requirements for Engineering Learnerships:

  • Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, Technical Drawing, and Trade Theory (minimum 40% per subject)
    OR
  • N2 Engineering Certificate with 4 relevant trade subjects
  • Must be medically fit and able to obtain a Medical Fitness Certificate

Mining Learnership:

  1. Learner Miner
    • Ref No: SC-3702
    • Minimum Requirement: Grade 10 or AET Level 4 with Foundational Learning Competence (FLC)
    • Subjects Required: English and Maths (minimum 40%)

Minimum Requirements for Learner Miner:

  • Good communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
  • Grade 10 certificate or equivalent
  • Medically fit for underground mining environments
  • Willingness to work in challenging physical conditions
