Job Description:
As a Sales Assistant at Old Khaki Newcastle Mall, you’ll be the face of the store—engaging directly with customers, driving sales, and upholding high visual and operational standards. You’ll also be involved in key store processes like handling transactions, maintaining floor presentation, and responding to customer queries.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering an exceptional in-store customer experience by using effective selling techniques
- Driving sales and consistently reaching or exceeding individual performance targets
- Identifying ways to maximise turnover by upselling, cross-selling, and spotting opportunities
- Following all stock control protocols to prevent loss or shrinkage
- Ensuring all outgoing items are properly scanned and paid for
- Performing till transactions efficiently and accurately using cash, cards, coupons, and vouchers
- Managing loyalty card sign-ups and transactions including those of accelerated partner programs
- Handling customer stock-related queries in a professional and timely manner
- Providing helpful, friendly, and courteous advice to customers at all times
- Reporting any compliments or complaints to store management
- Maintaining visual merchandising and housekeeping standards in alignment with the brand image
- Contributing to a positive, energetic, and engaging in-store environment
- Participating in in-store campaigns and creating an atmosphere that aligns with the Old Khaki brand

Minimum Requirements:
- Essential:
- Matric / Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4)
- Up to 6 months of previous experience in a retail environment
- South African Citizenship
- Clear criminal and credit record
- Willingness to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays
- Advantageous:
- 1 year or more of retail experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Point-of-Sale systems
- Knowledge of current fashion trends and the outdoor lifestyle
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
