The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is offering unemployed residents a valuable opportunity through the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES) under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). These short-term contracts run for 10 months and focus on creating jobs while supporting environmental sustainability, waste management, urban farming, and small-scale biogas production within various communities in the municipality. Successful candidates will receive daily stipends and skills training aimed at building long-term self-employment opportunities.

- Small Scale Biogas Project – Participant (Agricultural Waste Management – Bioconversion) – Job Type: Short-Term Contract

- Small Scale Biogas Project – Administrator (Agricultural Waste Management – Bioconversion) – Job Type: Short-Term Contract
Qualification:
- Participants: Basic literacy & numeracy, interest in environment/agriculture/waste management depending on position
- Team Leaders: Matric plus NQF 5 in agriculture, environment, or waste management (depending on the project)
- Administrator: NQF 5 in office/admin/project management, computer literacy, admin experience advantageous
Experience:
- 0–2 years relevant experience (depending on the position)
- Experience in agriculture, environmental conservation, waste management, or administration will be advantageous
Key Performance Areas:
- Participate in environmental, agricultural, or waste management initiatives
- Assist in urban vegetable gardening, recycling operations, or biogas production projects
- Engage in training to develop skills and prepare for business start-up opportunities
- Work effectively in a team to meet project objectives
- Follow health and safety protocols while working outdoors
- For administrators: manage documentation, reporting, and general office tasks
