What is the Dispensary Support Learnership?
The Dispensary Support Learnership is a fixed-term training programme that places learners in Dis-Chem pharmacies. Learners will gain hands-on exposure in dispensary operations while working toward registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as learner basic assistants. Upon successful completion, learners may be considered for permanent employment as Basic Pharmacist Assistants.
What you will gain

Candidate role during the programme
- Sell Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances
- Assist with compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines
- Unpack, merchandise, and clean dispensary & OTC shelves
- Learn to interpret prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Assist with picking, packing, labelling, and checking medication
- Manage stock, check expiry dates, and maintain a clean, organised dispensary
- Promote health awareness and provide basic information to patients
- Assist with medical scheme authorisations for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication
- Handle patient follow-ups, call centre scripts, and service calls
- Report shortages and discrepancies to the Dispensary Manager
- Receive dispensary stock in compliance with SOPs

Are you Eligible? (Requirements)
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Pure Mathematics
- Physical Science or Life Science as an additional subject
- Minimum 50% average pass
