Key Responsibilities:
As a Security Guard, your duties will include:
- Crime Prevention: Detect and deter criminal activities through vigilance and appropriate actions within legal and company guidelines.
- Patrols: Conduct random patrols to maintain visibility and reduce potential security risks.
- Access Control: Regulate and document entry for vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring only authorized access.
- Incident Reporting: Investigate and report damage, unauthorized entry, or suspicious activities.
- Customer Interaction: Exhibit professionalism and approachability while interacting with employees, customers, and guests.
- Asset Protection: Safeguard property against theft, damage, and misconduct.
- Searches: Perform personnel and vehicle searches in line with security protocols.
- Emergency Response: Assist during emergencies by notifying authorities and supporting first responders.
- Surveillance: Monitor alarm systems, video feeds, and emergency equipment for any irregularities.
- Compliance: Enforce rules and maintain adherence to Dis-Chem’s operational and industry standards.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
- PSIRA Grade C accreditation.
- 3+ years of security experience in retail environments such as shopping malls or warehouses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in an additional language.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Essential:
- Comprehensive PSIRA knowledge and compliance.
- Familiarity with fire, emergency, and health and safety protocols.
- Proficient communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Advantageous:
- Fluency in a third language.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- PSIRA registration with Grade C accreditation.
- South African citizenship with no criminal or credit record.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (PDP required for drivers).
