This 24-month internship is based at the Gauteng Provincial Office in Roodepoort and is designed to provide practical experience to a young, unemployed graduate who is eager to build a career in logistics, supply chain management, or procurement.

Job Description
The internship programme offers exposure to the operational logistics behind South Africa’s elections. The successful candidate will be integrated into a team that manages warehousing, procurement, distribution, and stock control, while ensuring that by-elections and related electoral processes are logistically sound.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with inbound and outbound logistics planning and execution
- Coordinating supplier tracking and ensuring timely delivery of goods
- Supporting warehouse management functions and inventory systems
- Participating in planning and execution of by-election logistical activities
- Assisting with document management, reporting, minute taking, and filing
- Preparing presentations and monthly performance reports
- Exposure to financial administration and procurement systems within the electoral framework
The internship is structured to ensure the candidate develops a holistic understanding of electoral operations in South Africa, with a strong focus on transparency, integrity, and efficiency.
Ideal Candidate
This internship is intended for an unemployed South African youth (35 years or younger) who meets the educational and experiential criteria outlined by the IEC. The candidate must be entering the workplace for the first time, without prior internship or professional experience in the related field.
Minimum Requirements
- South African citizenship
- 35 years of age or younger
- Never employed in the field or participated in an internship before
- Matric / Grade 12 / N3 / NQF Level 4
- A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Logistics
- Supply Chain Management
- Procurement
Role Responsibility
The intern will play an essential support role within the logistics department, gaining hands-on experience in:
- Managing inbound and outbound goods
- Coordinating supplier delivery schedules and tracking orders
- Assisting with physical stock counts and system-based inventory management
- Performing logistical tasks associated with by-elections across the province
- Supporting the team in preparing meeting minutes, internal reports, and logistics planning documents
- Maintaining a structured and well-documented filing and correspondence system
- Engaging in professional development activities and attending learning workshops
