Job Description
As a General Worker based at Skukuza Rest Camp, you will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across accommodation and public areas. You will also be involved in laundry, inventory control, equipment upkeep, and various camp-related support tasks to ensure the camp operates efficiently and remains welcoming to visitors.
Your duties will help ensure that Kruger National Park continues to meet the high standards expected by local and international guests alike, reinforcing its status as a world-class eco-tourism destination.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this opportunity is physically fit, has a strong attention to detail, and is passionate about maintaining a clean and orderly environment. You should be able to work in a team, follow instructions, and understand the importance of health and safety protocols in the workplace.
Preference may be given to candidates with prior experience in hospitality or cleaning services, especially in a tourism or wildlife reserve environment.
Role Responsibility
As a General Worker in Skukuza Rest Camp, your main responsibilities will include:
- Performing routine cleaning duties in chalets, restrooms, ablution blocks, and surrounding areas according to prescribed standards
- Reporting maintenance faults and equipment irregularities to the supervisor
- Assisting with laundry services for the camp
- Keeping cleaning tools and equipment in good working order and ensuring their cleanliness and proper storage
- Performing inventory checks and controlling stock items issued for housekeeping
- Assisting in general rest camp tasks, including preparing units for guests and ensuring surrounding areas are clean and welcoming
- Helping to collect supplies and performing ad hoc duties as delegated by management
Skills and Attributes
Key Competencies:
- Sound knowledge of hygiene and housekeeping standards
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a hospitality environment
- Familiarity with the care and handling of cleaning equipment and materials
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Supervisory skills will be an added advantage
