Introduction
The South African National Parks (SANParks) is inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for the Internship Placement Programme 2025. This 24-month internship offers qualifying graduates valuable work experience while contributing to the important work of managing and preserving South Africa’s national parks and biodiversity.
The internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in Human Capital Management, Labour Relations, and Hospitality Services, while receiving professional mentorship and exposure to one of the country’s most renowned conservation entities, located in the world-famous Kruger National Park.
Job Description
The SANParks Internship Programme aims to develop qualified graduates by providing work-based training and practical exposure to real-world environments aligned to their academic fields of study. Participants will engage in meaningful work while learning from experienced mentors, contributing to departmental operations, and gaining valuable skills that enhance employability.
The internship contract is for a period of twenty-four months, during which interns will gain technical and administrative knowledge that complements their formal qualifications.

- Placement: 1 position at Phalaborwa Office
- Labour Relations
- Qualification Required: Diploma / B Degree / Honours / Masters in Human Resources Management / Labour Relations Management
- Placement: 1 position at Corporate Skukuza
- Hospitality Service Management
- Qualification Required: Diploma / B Degree / Honours / Masters in Hospitality or Tourism Management
- Placement: 1 position at Tourism Skukuza
Ideal Candidate
SANParks is seeking motivated, passionate, and qualified graduates who meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be unemployed at the time of application
- Must be between 18 and 35 years of age
- Must have completed a National Diploma, Bachelor Degree, Honours, or Masters (NQF Level 6 to NQF Level 9) in one of the listed disciplines from a recognized South African Public Higher Education Institution (HEI)
- Must not have previously been employed or participated in any internship or placement programme
- Must meet the academic and field-specific requirements of the respective internship position applied for
- Must be willing to undergo SANParks verification, pre-screening, and suitability assessments
Role Responsibility
Interns will work closely with assigned mentors and supervisors, gaining exposure to professional work settings while carrying out departmental duties aligned to their fields of study.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with department-specific tasks and projects within Human Capital Management, Labour Relations, or Hospitality Services
- Participating in administrative duties, data management, document preparation, and operational support
- Assisting in employee relations processes, HR compliance, and labour administration tasks
- Supporting the coordination and delivery of hospitality and tourism services within the national park
- Applying academic theory to practical workplace situations and contributing to departmental goals
- Participating in mentorship sessions, training workshops, and performance assessments
- Preparing reports, maintaining records, and assisting in continuous service improvement
- Complying with SANParks’ workplace policies, code of conduct, and ethical standards
- Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism throughout the internship period

Position Summary
