Job Description
As a General Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring that daily warehouse functions are carried out effectively and efficiently. This includes the binning, picking, packing, and movement of inventory to ensure the warehouse operates at optimal levels and supports the branch’s overall service delivery goals. The role demands physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to high standards of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Binning
- Accurately bin incoming stock as per company procedures
- Replenish pick-face locations from bulk stock areas
- Allocate bin numbers for new products and ensure bin location accuracy
- Communicate and update supervisors regarding bin changes
Picking and Packing
- Pick customer and branch orders on time to meet order cut-off periods
- Pick bulk stock only when required to avoid breaking smaller packs
- Follow standard procedures to ensure correct item selection
- Assist with daily double-checks to reduce inventory errors
Warehouse Operations and Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Assist with cycle counts and full stock takes when required
- Follow all lawful instructions from supervisors
- Maintain operational targets and performance benchmarks
Scanner Control
- Distribute barcode scanners daily to warehouse operators
- Record scanner issuance and returns using electronic applications
- Inspect returned scanners for damage and report issues immediately
- Track scanner allocation in daily logs to ensure accountability
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone with a solid background in warehouse operations, preferably within the motor parts industry. You should be physically fit, reliable, and committed to delivering results while maintaining warehouse safety and cleanliness standards. Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent literacy and numeracy qualification
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse/logistics experience (desirable)
- Knowledge of motor spares/engine parts is a strong advantage
- Understanding of warehouse systems and operating procedures
