Job Description:
The Old Mutual Insure Learnership is a 12-month structured training programme that combines theoretical learning with hands-on practical work experience. Learners will receive training in key insurance operations, customer engagement, data management, and business administration. This learnership will help participants to:

  • Gain foundational skills in insurance principles and customer service
  • Understand the operational workflows of a top financial services provider
  • Interact professionally with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Handle data accurately while learning about claims processing and underwriting
  • Comply with regulatory standards in a financial services environment

During the 12-month programme, learners will be mentored by experienced professionals, assessed continuously, and supported throughout their development journey. Those who complete the programme successfully may be considered for further employment or development opportunities within Old Mutual.

Ideal Candidate:
The learnership programme targets young South Africans who meet specific eligibility criteria and demonstrate potential for growth in a corporate environment. Candidates must be:

  • South African citizens with a valid 13-digit ID number
  • Aged between 18 and 35 years
  • In possession of a valid Matric certificate (Grade 12)
  • Passed Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy in matric
  • Not currently employed or studying
  • Credit clear and criminal record free

Applicants should also be available full-time and reside in or near Durban. Preference will be given to candidates from underrepresented designated groups, including persons with disabilities.

Role Responsibility:
As a learner, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in classroom-based and online training sessions
  • Applying theoretical knowledge in real work scenarios
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external clients
  • Supporting insurance claims processing and client communication
  • Assisting with data entry, tracking, and reporting
  • Following all procedures related to confidentiality and compliance
  • Demonstrating consistent progress throughout the training period
  • Completing all assigned assessments, portfolios, and practical tasks

Learners will report to a dedicated supervisor and may work closely with team leads across various departments including underwriting, policy administration, and client services.
