Job Description
As a Grants Administrator, you will support the processing and management of social grant applications in your designated local office. You will be responsible for:
- Providing front-line service to grant applicants and beneficiaries
- Assisting with the screening of social grant applications to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Verifying and capturing application data into the SASSA system
- Performing quality control checks on processed documentation
- Ensuring all administrative requirements comply with policies, legislation, and audit protocols
- Supporting case resolution, client queries, and communication with service users
- Managing physical and digital grant documentation and ensuring records are up-to-date and secure
- Delivering services aligned to Section 57 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Chapter 6, Part 3
- Participating in continuous training and compliance monitoring

Ideal Candidate
To be considered for the Grants Administrator role at either the Bethlehem or Qwaqwa local office, applicants must possess the following:
- A Senior Certificate (Grade 12) – NQF Level 4
- Basic computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with members of the public, including vulnerable communities
- Attention to detail and ability to work with confidential documents
Preferred Attributes Include:
- A valid driver’s license, which would allow flexibility for mobile and outreach services
- Previous experience in a public administration, clerical, or data capturing role
Role Responsibility
As part of the Grants Administration team, your core responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the full lifecycle of social grant applications, from submission to payment readiness
- Accurately capturing information to reduce errors and prevent delays in grant disbursement
- Ensuring that all applicants are treated with dignity and provided with clear communication
- Flagging inconsistencies or concerns for further investigation by supervisors or compliance officers
- Monitoring and maintaining control of application documents, logs, and electronic records
- Being an ambassador of public service excellence in line with SASSA’s national service standards
