Introduction
Transnet Freight Rail is recruiting unemployed youth and skilled workers for short-term opportunities under the TRIM RNC construction project. This recruitment drive offers positions for Erectors (10 posts) and General Workers (30 posts) in the Electrical Engineering Works department. These jobs are based in Saldanha, Western Cape, and are aimed at supporting railway infrastructure maintenance and construction work.
For job seekers in the Western Cape, especially those looking for practical experience in the rail and construction environment, this opportunity could be an important stepping stone. The available roles focus on overhead electrical railway systems, infrastructure support, construction assistance, and safe maintenance operations on South Africa’s rail network.
This opportunity matters because it gives unemployed youth and experienced workers a chance to be part of a major transport infrastructure project. Railway construction and maintenance remain essential for the movement of goods and the growth of the country’s logistics sector. Working on such a project can help candidates gain hands-on industry experience, improve their employability, and build a track record in a technical and physically demanding work environment.
The closing date for applications is 09 March 2026, and all applications must be physically submitted at the designated drop-off point. Applicants should read all instructions carefully and make sure they include the required supporting documents.
