Job Description
As a Trainee Driver Trainer, you will undergo extensive mentoring and on-the-job training in preparation for delivering coaching and assessments to drivers across the organization. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around driver development, safe driving practices, performance monitoring, and training administration.
Key tasks include:
- Shadowing certified Driver Trainers during induction and refresher sessions
- Participating in training session preparation and post-training evaluations
- Conducting on-route assessments with senior trainers
- Helping to deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Assisting in compiling training reports and documentation
- Capturing training attendance and learner data into internal systems
- Tracking compliance documentation including licenses and PrDP renewals
- Supporting in audits and incident investigations to improve road safety culture
You’ll also be exposed to operational duties, contributing to vehicle dispatch, route inspections, and maintenance tracking—all of which deepen your understanding of driver logistics in a professional environment.
Ideal Candidate
To qualify, you must be an experienced Code EC driver who is passionate about uplifting road safety standards and empowering others. You should enjoy coaching, working with people, and continuously learning.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- A valid EC (Code 14) driver’s license with a valid PrDP
- A minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience
- A clean driving record with no major incidents
- A genuine interest in driver education and training
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer literacy and experience working with learner management systems
- A professional, patient and safety-focused attitude
Role Responsibility
The Trainee Driver Trainer supports the wider Driver Development Department by assisting in:
