West Coast TVET College, in collaboration with the National Skills Fund (NSF), is offering a powerful opportunity for unemployed South African youth through its 2025 Learnership Programme. Designed to uplift and empower individuals with relevant skills, this initiative provides 100 structured, accredited learnership placements across four campus locations in the Western Cape. These learnerships blend theoretical learning with hands-on experience, offering practical exposure to real work environments in both technical and business-related fields.

Job Description

The West Coast TVET College NSF Learnership Programme provides structured training that leads to nationally recognised qualifications. Learners receive both classroom-based education and workplace training in a specific skill set or trade. The programme is delivered through a combination of campus-based instruction and industry-relevant experience, helping learners transition from theoretical knowledge to practical application.

Learnerships are available in multiple disciplines across the college’s campuses:

Atlantis Campus

  • Bricklaying NQF Level 3 – 30 Students
  • CBMT Bricklayer Phase 1 & 2 – 10 Students
  • CBMT Fitter and Turner Phase 1 & 2 – 10 Students

Malmesbury Campus

  • ICB Junior Bookkeeping – 10 Students
  • International Computer Driver’s License (ICDL) – 10 Students

Vredenburg Campus

  • CBMT Boilermaker Phase 1 & 2 – 10 Students
  • CBMT Welder Phase 1 & 2 – 10 Students

Vredendal Campus

  • CBMT Electrical Phase 1 & 2 – 10 Students

Participants benefit from a monthly stipend, nationally recognised certificates, and increased pathways to further training or apprenticeships. The programme addresses youth unemployment by equipping learners with tangible skills that meet industry demands.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this learnership is an enthusiastic and committed individual who is eager to gain skills and work experience in a formal, structured environment. The programme is best suited for individuals who are:

  • Currently unemployed and not enrolled in any other programme
  • Residing within the West Coast region (priority will be given to local applicants)
  • Previously disadvantaged individuals seeking career opportunities
  • Interested in technical trades or business qualifications

Minimum requirements include:

  • A minimum of Grade 10, Grade 12 or NQF Level 2, depending on the specific learnership
  • Relevant educational background aligned with the learnership you are applying for
  • South African citizenship with a valid ID
  • Willingness to attend full-time training and complete workplace assessments

Role Responsibility

As a learnership participant, you will be expected to:

  • Attend and participate actively in all theoretical classes at the assigned campus
  • Follow the structured curriculum as provided by West Coast TVET College facilitators
  • Complete practical components in simulated workshops or real workplaces
  • Work under supervision during practical sessions or company placements
  • Maintain discipline, respect timelines, and adhere to attendance policies
  • Demonstrate accountability and professionalism in both classroom and workplace environments
  • Complete all assessments, logbooks, and workplace evidence portfolios
  • Apply learned skills to real-world scenarios under the guidance of qualified mentors

Through these responsibilities, learners develop a balance of theory and practice, preparing them for employment in various industries or for entry into artisan development programmes.
