Introduction
United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD), a division of the Clicks Group, is offering an exciting learnership programme designed to empower unemployed youth living with disabilities. This 12-month initiative provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience, acquire new skills, and position yourself for future employment in the fast-paced pharmaceutical and retail supply chain sector.
The UPD Learnership Programme is a blend of theoretical and practical training, ensuring participants not only learn essential skills but also apply them in a real workplace environment. Successful candidates will join the team at the Montague Gardens branch in Cape Town, reporting directly to a Department Manager who will provide guidance, mentorship, and support throughout the journey.
Job Description
The programme consists of classroom-based learning combined with on-the-job training in various operational areas. Learners will:
- Attend scheduled training sessions as required
- Complete all classroom activities and workplace assignments
- Maintain a Portfolio of Evidence demonstrating competence against the set learning outcomes
- Assist and provide support to team members under the supervision of a Line Manager
- Work towards successfully completing all assessments and meeting the competency criteria for the learnership
Ideal Candidate
The learnership is aimed at:
- Unemployed South African youth aged between 18 and 35 years
- Individuals living with a disability (PWDs) who meet the entry requirements
- Matriculants who are eager to learn, develop their skills, and start a career in the pharmaceutical or retail supply chain industry
Role Responsibility
Learners will play an active role in supporting day-to-day departmental operations while engaging in structured learning. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with administrative and operational tasks
- Participating in team projects and problem-solving activities
- Ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time
- Following instructions and workplace procedures
- Upholding the values of integrity, customer focus, and teamwork
