Job Description:
As part of the IT Graduate Development Programme, successful applicants will join Air Products’ dynamic technology team and gain practical exposure to hardware, software, and network systems. Interns will assist with the maintenance and support of internal IT infrastructure while developing a deeper understanding of operational IT functions in the gas and manufacturing industry.
During the internship, participants will work closely with experienced IT professionals, gaining insight into how technology supports industrial operations, enhances productivity, and contributes to business continuity.
Core responsibilities include:
- Providing PC and hardware support, especially for Dell and Lenovo systems
- Supporting installation and maintenance of software and desktop applications
- Troubleshooting and resolving IT-related user issues
- Assisting with network monitoring and support, particularly with Cisco and Fortinet technologies
- Maintaining documentation and providing updates for IT assets and service requests
- Participating in IT audits, upgrades, and security reviews as required
- Contributing to operational efficiency by supporting user training and awareness
Ideal Candidate:
Air Products is looking for graduates who are eager to launch a career in IT with a proactive attitude, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn. This internship is designed for individuals who are not currently enrolled in any other internship, learnership, or graduate development programme.
Minimum requirements include:
- South African citizenship (no exceptions)
- National Diploma in Information Technology or a related field (essential)
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related discipline is advantageous but not required
- Strong interest in hardware and network support
- Basic understanding of PC troubleshooting, networking concepts, and common operating systems
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Passion for the manufacturing or gas sector will be an added advantage
- Ability to work from Kempton Park with flexibility for Bryanston placement if necessary
Role Responsibility:
As an IT intern at Air Products, your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with end-user support across the business (hardware, software, and peripheral devices)
- Providing frontline helpdesk and service desk assistance
- Collaborating with IT staff to resolve network-related issues using Cisco and Fortinet platforms
- Contributing to asset management, including device tracking and software licensing
- Supporting the deployment of new hardware and rollout of system upgrades
- Monitoring IT systems to ensure uptime and responsiveness
- Participating in team meetings and training workshops
