Cashbuild is looking for General Assistants The General Assistant position is dedicated to ensuring excellent customer service, effective merchandising, accurate shelf pricing, and maintaining housekeeping standards within designated store areas.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Minimum of Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with 1 year of relevant work experience, or Grade 12 without work experience
- Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
- Documentation: Valid South African ID or work permit
- Skills: Accurate basic math skills, good under pressure, and availability for shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Primary Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Guide customers on product selection and handle inquiries
- Assist with resolving customer complaints
Merchandising and Housekeeping:
- Ensure bulk stock areas are merchandised safely and follow store layout plans
- Maintain a tidy area free from hazards, with accurate shelf pricing
- Complete checklist duties, including canteen and restroom schedules
Safety and Compliance (OHSA):
- Adhere to safety guidelines, ensuring safe movement for customers and staff
- Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager
Stock Management:
- Identify and report damaged stock to prevent losses
- Maintain accurate stock displays to reduce stock loss
Performance and Problem-Solving:
- Drive Results: Meet targets, follow quality standards, and honor commitments
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve problems, escalating issues as needed
- Decision-Making: Make decisions within policy guidelines and timelines
- Planning: Organize work within departmental policies and procedures
Personal Qualities:
- Ability to remain composed under pressure
- Positive, courteous communication with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
- Collaborative approach to handling conflicts and daily interactions
