Introduction
The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), an agency of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic), is offering a valuable Graduate Internship Programme aimed at empowering South African youth with practical workplace exposure in the field of Corporate Disclosure and Compliance.

This internship is open to three (3) qualifying candidates, based at the Sunnyside Office in Pretoria, and runs for 24 months, offering structured work experience aligned to legal, regulatory, and compliance disciplines.

Job Description
The internship is designed for unemployed graduates who want to gain practical skills and insight into the regulatory and governance functions within a key public sector entity. Interns will support the Corporate Disclosure and Compliance (CDC) team with research, administrative tasks, regulatory compliance work, and disclosure reporting initiatives.

Objectives of the Internship Programme:

  • Provide structured workplace experience to unemployed graduates
  • Develop skills that align with the requirements of the public service and corporate governance sectors
  • Support the intern’s transition into permanent employment by building capacity and practical experience
  • Empower youth through meaningful contribution to South Africa’s economic and legal frameworks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with compliance documentation and tracking
  • Support regulatory disclosure tasks
  • Participate in internal compliance reviews
  • Conduct research on legal and corporate governance matters
  • Compile reports and assist with stakeholder communication
  • Maintain filing systems and records in accordance with regulatory guidelines

Requirements

Educational Qualification:

  • A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or B Degree (NQF Level 7 or 8) in:
    • Law
    • Accounting
    • With a specialisation in Compliance Management, Regulatory Governance, or Corporate Disclosure

General Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be unemployed at the time of application
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years
  • Must not have participated in any previous internship programme
  • Must have completed the qualification with academic transcripts ready
  • Must be available to sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates with foreign qualifications must have them evaluated by SAQA
  • Must be available to attend selection interviews in Pretoria
  • Must submit a detailed CV and academic transcript upon application

Role Responsibility
Interns will report to the Corporate Disclosure and Compliance unit and contribute to the smooth execution of disclosure frameworks, internal compliance mechanisms, and regulatory duties. They will also participate in various learning sessions, training workshops, and compliance systems to deepen their understanding of corporate governance in the public sector.
