This is a 24-month fixed-term opportunity for graduates to gain workplace exposure, mentorship, and professional growth, while contributing to national priorities in gender equality, youth development, and disability inclusion.

Who is DWYPD?

The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) is a national government department in South Africa. Its mission is to advance women’s empowerment, youth development, and the rights of persons with disabilities. By joining the department, interns become part of South Africa’s efforts to build a more inclusive and fair society.

What is the DWYPD Internship Programme 2025?

The DWYPD Internship Programme is a 24-month structured initiative that equips graduates with practical workplace skills. Interns will not only gain traditional training but will also contribute directly to policy research, advocacy campaigns, programme implementation, and stakeholder engagement.

The following internship positions are available for 2025:

Post 1: Advocacy and Mainstreaming, Rights of Persons with Disabilities
- Ref No: DWYPD/RPD01/2025 (X1 Post)
- Qualification: Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Research, Statistics, or Law
Post 2: International Relations, Stakeholder Management and Capacity Building
- Ref No: DWYPD/MERC02/2025 (X1 Post)
- Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in International Relations or Political Sciences
Post 3: Social Empowerment of Women
- Ref No: DWYPD/JTJS03/2025 (X1 Post)
- Qualification: Honours Degree in Gender Studies or Development Studies

Are you Eligible?

Applicants must:

Be South African citizens aged 18–35
Be unemployed graduates with relevant qualifications
Not have previously participated in an internship in the public service sector
