Minimum Requirements / Eligibility

Educational Requirements

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12
  • Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) qualification
  • Current HPCSA registration (2025)

Licensing Requirements

  • Valid C1 driver’s licence
  • Valid PrDP for transporting patients

Additional Competencies

  • Ability to pass an EMS assessment test
  • Ability to complete a driving test
  • Good communication and patient-care skills
  • Knowledge of ILS protocols
  • Ability to perform emergency interventions under pressure
  • Physically and mentally fit for shift-based EMS duties
