Introduction

This two-year training initiative is designed to shape the next generation of automotive sales professionals, focusing on core selling techniques, technical product knowledge, and relationship-building skills.

The Sales Cadet Programme aims to empower South African youth, especially those residing in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, with industry-relevant knowledge and experience within the competitive aftermarket parts sector.


Job Description

The Sales Cadet Programme is a structured, full-time developmental course focused on preparing young people for future roles in automotive sales and branch operations. Interns will be placed in Motus Aftermarket Parts branches, where they will undergo on-the-job training, attend sales workshops, and engage in mentorship sessions with experienced sales managers.

Cadets will:

  • Learn and apply sales strategies tailored to the automotive parts sector
  • Build a deep understanding of aftermarket products and their applications
  • Serve customers, respond to queries, and manage transactions
  • Participate in branch-level sales activities, reporting, and planning
  • Handle stock-related queries and learn basic merchandising practices
  • Develop confidence in negotiation, objection handling, and upselling
  • Get exposed to customer service, team dynamics, and product support

Upon successful completion, cadets may be considered for sales or junior management roles within the Motus Group.


Ideal Candidate

Motus is looking for youthful, motivated individuals who are passionate about sales, have a growth mindset, and are ready to build a long-term career in the automotive industry.

The ideal applicant should:

  • Be between the ages of 18–35
  • Have a Matric / Grade 12 certificate
  • Reside in Gauteng or KwaZulu-Natal
  • Be unemployed and eager to gain industry experience
  • Have a clear criminal record
  • Possess sales experience (beneficial but not compulsory)

This opportunity is best suited to individuals who are proactive, curious, and capable of learning in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.


Role Responsibility

During the 24-month programme, cadets will be trained and supported to:

  • Greet and assist walk-in customers professionally
  • Understand customer needs and recommend suitable parts or services
  • Effectively communicate product features, availability, and pricing
  • Close sales and process orders accurately using internal systems
  • Track sales targets and daily activity reports
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Participate in promotions, campaigns, and regional sales initiatives
  • Support stock control, pricing, and branch operational functions

This real-world exposure ensures cadets become well-rounded sales professionals, equipped to handle both the technical and interpersonal aspects of automotive retail.
