Job Description

As part of the Quality Assurance team at CCBSA, the In-Service Trainee will be exposed to the manufacturing processes that ensure product quality, safety, and consistency. The role involves conducting quality tests, compiling accurate reports, and highlighting any discrepancies found during the production process.

The trainee will work under the direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager and will support various operational functions that are critical to maintaining product and packaging standards in accordance with Coca-Cola’s global manufacturing benchmarks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine quality assurance tests on raw materials, production samples, and finished goods
  • Compile detailed quality control reports for internal review and audit purposes
  • Communicate any deviations from quality standards to the QA team
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions on product non-conformities
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Assist in calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Follow all safety, hygiene, and ISO protocols as per company policy

Ideal Candidate

This programme is ideal for a motivated, science-driven individual who is currently studying towards a National Diploma or Degree in a science-related field and now requires practical training to complete their studies. Candidates must have a passion for quality assurance and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-driven manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science passed at 40% or higher (Mathematics Literacy is not accepted)
  • At least two South African languages passed at 40%
  • Studying towards a qualification in:
    • Microbiology
    • Food Technology
    • Biotechnology
    • Or a related science qualification
  • Completed all theoretical components of the qualification and require in-service (experiential) training
  • Must not have completed in-service training at any other company previously
  • Must possess a letter from the academic institution confirming the requirement for workplace training

Additional Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be an Employment Equity candidate
  • Must be unemployed at the time of application
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Must be available for the full 12-month training period
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends, if required

Role Responsibility

The In-Service Trainee will play an active role in supporting the Quality Assurance function by:

  • Ensuring compliance with production quality specifications
  • Monitoring and documenting product samples from different production stages
  • Supporting senior quality technicians with data collection and interpretation
  • Participating in audits, inspections, and team review meetings
  • Upholding Coca-Cola’s quality-first reputation by paying close attention to detail and reporting inconsistencies accurately
