Job Summary: Cashier Position
As a Cashier, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. Your primary duties include handling cash transactions accurately and efficiently, requiring sharp attention to detail and strong math skills. Reporting to the Till Supervisor, this role involves working flexible shifts, including trading and non-trading hours, Sundays, and public holidays. Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier, your duties will include:
- Operating a point-of-sale system with an integrated scale
- Accurately scanning items and giving correct change
- Ensuring balanced cash at the end of each shift with all payment methods recorded correctly
- Keeping the till area clean and hygienic
- Delivering friendly, high-quality customer service
- Staying informed about current products, product codes, and pricing
- Being aware of ongoing promotions and advertisements
- Demonstrating strong communication and time management, especially during peak hours
- Working efficiently and effectively during busy times
Requirements
To qualify for this role, applicants should meet the following:
- Matric qualification
- Proficiency in English
- Reside within 25km of the job location
- Clear criminal record
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following would be advantageous:
- South African citizenship
- Prior experience as a cashier, with at least 1 year in the role
